My Philosophy of Education
"I believe that each child is a unique and interesting individual who needs a secure and stimulating atmosphere to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. It is my utmost desire to help each of my students reach his/her maximum potential in all of these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites the sharing of a multitude of ideas. This ideal is absolutely conducive to create respectful and responsible citizens in our community."
I am Nakeisha Baxley, Interim Principal to a great group of children at the school I, too, attended, Kelly Edwards Elementary, as a child. I am so excited about what the new school year will bring! I anticipate lots of learning and also lots of fun.
I grew up right here in the Williston/Elko area all of my life. I graduated from Williston-Elko High School in 1993. I attended Clemson University for one year. I transferred to USC-Aiken the following year. I received my Bachelor's of Art degree in Early Childhood Education in 1999 from USC-Aiken. I received my Master's of Arts in Instructional Technology and 30 hours in Higher Education Administration and Psychology from Troy University. I earned a second Master's degree in Education Administration (Educational Leadership) in May 2012.
I currently reside in Elko, SC with my husband, Shawn, and two daughters, Shy'Davia, and Samelea. My family is a vital part of me. I enjoy being a wife as well as a mother, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. What is life worth when you can't enjoy it with the people you love??? I spend every moment I can with them, whether it's watching TV with them, listening to music, reading books, or helping with Precal. I treasure every moment in and out of KE!!
